Creating Barrier-Free Washrooms for
Carvel Hall

The Carvel Ukrainian Cultural Society has set out to ensure the future of the facility by doing major renovations to create barrier-free washrooms. The current washrooms were built in the 1970's and fail to meet modern standards. When the project is completed, the facility will be accessible and safe for all. Over the past 10 years, our number of annual visitors has increased to over 2,500 visits. The Society expects to see that number increase with the addition of accessible washrooms and other features.

Barrier-Free Washrooms

The new bathroom space will be triple the existing space, done to modern standards. The Ladies' Washroom will include 5 water closets, one accessible, 3 hand washing sinks and a baby change station. The Mens' Washroom will also include a baby change station and 3 sinks, plus 3 urinals and two water closets, one being accessible.

Volunteers, Fundraising & Donations

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds who might like to join us on this project, or other activities we do. We also have some ongoing fundraising projects including a soon to be released raffle. As part of the scope of the project we have a wish-list for in kind donations as well. If you'd like to help, click here to let us know!

Multi-use Space

As a benefit of the efficiency of construction, the creation of a multi-use space will be included in this project. This space will be available for community programming, business meetings, parties and more. Because the building will be energy efficient, this space will be available at an affordable rate.

Environment

In an effort to maximize efficiency and longevity, modern, energy efficient lighting will be used throughout. Low consumption toilets, automatic taps and other features will help to reduce water demand. Modern construction techniques will allow the building to be heated without substantial loss and waste.
